Unicorns

Welcome to this episode of Jack Chat and another tiny lesson in leadership, straight up.

I have an interesting topic for this episode, I’d like to talk about… mythical creatures. Fantastical beings that only exist in our imagination.

Like unicorns.

The existence of unicorns has been a myth for about 2,000 years. We love the idea of unicorns. They seem so darn possible.

But they’re not real.

You know what else we sometimes think is possible but doesn’t really exist?

People who succeed on their own without any help from a team.

Competitive corporate environments often over-emphasize competitive mindsets. While it’s healthy for individuals to have personal aspirations, leaders need to ensure everyone understands that individual achievement requires help from others.

This is the core purpose of a team. To help each other. And to work together for the sake of a larger goal.

To create healthy teams that work together, leaders should encourage team members to reflect on the following questions:

  • How are my talents complementary to others on the team?
  • What can we accomplish together?
  • What is the most generous way I can show up on this team?

Give those questions some thought…stop looking for unicorns, and join me again for another chat!

Who we’ve worked with.
