Welcome to this episode of Jack Chat and another tiny lesson in leadership, straight up.
In this episode, I’d like you to join me for a little decluttering. Not of your stuff…Clearly, I can’t help you there. But I can help you declutter your approach to developing yourself as a leader.
I know it’s easy to get lost in the deluge of books, courses, models, guides, programs, theories, formulas, techniques, checklists….*sputter, gasping for air
Here’s what I recommend to keep you from aimlessly drifting through the vastness of leadership development content: Look for the truth at the bottom of it all and drop your anchor there.
For example, here at S25, we help leaders connect to the tried and true leadership behaviors of humility, curiosity, empathy, and believing in others. Everything we teach is anchored on those essential truths. And we work hard not to junk it up with complicated models, techniques, or formulas. Just good-old-fashioned human connection skills.
Here’s some self-reflection questions to help you “drop anchor.”
- What do I believe are the core behaviors for being a good leader?
- Do I look for and recognize the underlying themes of the leadership development content I consume?
- What are my methods for integrating new content with things I already know are true about leading others?
Give those questions some thought… and join me again for another chat!
